Schott aimed to offer SAP service and demand management to 4,500 global users. Amid 6-8 annual SAP projects, they sought a solution balancing project demands with incident, change, and problem management requirements. Collaborating with BearingPoint, they faced challenges in data security, compliance, and transitioning from MS Excel, all while aligning with ITIL standards.

Solution
After a thorough three-month evaluation, Schott selected Cerri Project for its comprehensive demand and service management capabilities. It provided a unified solution and allowed Schott to capitalize on their existing Lotus Notes platform.

Schott is a multinational technology company with over 125 years of history. Specializing in specialty glass and materials, Schott holds leading positions in many of its product categories. The company serves a wide range of industries, including household appliances, solar energy, pharmaceuticals, electronics, optics, transportation, and architecture. Drawing from its extensive experience, Schott delivers innovative solutions that meet the demands of its global clientele.

The CHALLENGE:

Schott needed to deliver SAP service and demand management to 4,500 users globally. They typically execute 6-8 SAP rollout projects annually, each lasting 4-6 months, utilizing both internal and external resources. The challenge was finding a solution that addressed both the demands of these rollouts and the service management team’s needs in incident, change, and problem management. Partnering with BearingPoint, Schott detailed their requirements which encompassed aspects like authorisation, workflows, data security, and compliance. Initially, resource management was done in MS Excel, while a separate tool handled other SAP deployment support activities. A shift was made in the IT department’s structure to align with ITIL standards.

The SOLUTION:

After evaluating multiple products over three months, Schott opted for Cerri Project, primarily because it met all their requirements for demand and service management. Cerri Project emerged as a comprehensive solution, offering competitive advantages and compatibility with Schott’s existing Lotus Notes platform.

The RESULTS:

Within just three months, Schott successfully implemented Cerri Project, benefiting from its robust support to quickly establish vital workflows and interfaces. A manual data transfer was set up to ease the transition from previous systems, followed by intensive training sessions. This enabled around 200 Schott IT personnel and various external resources to utilize the tool effectively. The outcome? Unprecedented visibility across all projects, incidents, changes, and resources. All of Schott’s IT time reports are now managed in Cerri Project and are seamlessly transferred to SAP via a custom interface. Thanks to the tool’s global deployment and user-friendly web interface, incident reporting has been centralized and streamlined.
